Consacration Formula

      It was Jesus Christ on the Cross through
      His Blessed Mother –Who in His Great
      Mercy and love chose one of His most
      unworthy and most uncapable of human
      beings to start His own work among the poor-
      Therefore the Society [and Family] as a
      whole and  in detail is completely and
      will always remain the sole possession
      of the Mother of God.

     CONSECRATION TO JESUS THROUGH MARY

    EPHESUS COVENANT

    INTRODUCTION

    You are about to begin a spiritual preparation for an Act of Consecration to Jesus, through Mary, which can change your life.  We ought to keep in mind that this is not our work, it is hers, this is not our choice, it is hers, this is not our mission, it is hers.  This is not so much our gift of self to Jesus as it is Jesus' gift of His Mother to us. She has a special plan for us.  We can choose to accept or refuse.

    This period of preparation is a special time of grace.  Our Lady wants and will make herself known to us.  We will receive the graces Our Lord has waiting for us during this time as we open ourselves to Our Lady, allowing the mysteries of her thirst (to satiate the Thirst of Jesus) to penetrate our souls. The material is divided up into five weeks (34 days).  There are daily readings and meditations.  The first five days are reflections which explain the fruits of Our Lady’s presence in our life in the light of Mother Teresa’s spirituality.  The following twenty eight days are daily meditations which help us penetrate the mystery of the role of Mary in the revelation of Jesus’ cry of thirst from the cross.

    Each meditation is self-explanatory.  There is a theme for each meditation to help direct your attention.  However, allow yourself to be guided by the Holy Spirit.  Each meditation has a preparatory prayer and a specific grace for which to ask.  Finish the meditation with a written review of about 10 minutes to record how Our Lady moved you during the meditation and close with MT Prayer see page 5 (Mary, Mother of Jesus)

    The meditations may be made the following way:

    1.     find a suitable place and time for prayer;
    2.     read over the material before beginning the actual prayer time,
         including the theme for the day;
    3.     pray the preparatory prayer and ask for the grace of the given meditation;
    4.     reflect on the material for 20 to 30 minutes;
    5.     spend 10 minutes writing in a prayer journal the insights received in
         the meditation;
    6.     close the prayer period with Mother Teresa’s  prayer.

    The Consecration to Jesus through Mary consists in the resolution to remain in Our Lady’s heart, in prayer and apostolate, without attachment or preoccupation, in prayer of heart and docility of will.  Mother Teresa would say to do everything “through, with and in Mary.”  It is an entrustment of our entire being to Jesus through Mary – our past, present and future; our joys and sorrows; our gifts and weaknesses; our plans and works.

    Such gift of self to the Immaculate Heart of Mary will help us to achieve a more effective and complete union with Jesus, and a deeper penetration of the mystery of His life and especially of His thirst.

     Covenant of Consecration

    “We must … abandon ourselves completely into her hands.”

    The desire of Mother Teresa that she and her sisters [and her spiritual Family] live their life of union with Jesus in and through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, expressed itself concretely in the practice of Marian consecration. Besides the formal consecration made by all, and set out in the institute’s book of prayers, this total entrustment to Our Lady was embodied in Mother’s most well-known and often repeated prayer, used throughout the day, almost as a consecration in miniature, at the end of every act of common prayer:
                     “
    Immaculate Heart of Mary, Cause of our Joy, pray for us.”
    Time and time again Mother would exhort her followers to take Our Lady into their hearts and lives as John the beloved disciple had done on Calvary.

    ‘Pray’ the material slowly with the intention of uniting your prayer with Our Lady’s prayer.

    The M.C. must always be with Our Lady
    at the foot of the Cross of Jesus
    with their chalice lifted right up,
    as to quench
    the burning thirst of Jesus
